42tndAnniversary
Lee Evans Tournament of The Americas
NEWSLETTER

On behalf of all of us in the Tournament Office, we would like to welcome you to another year of great bowling competition and fun.

The tournament dates are August 14 - 21, 2004. Official practice is on the afternoon of Saturday, August 14th - one time only. Opening Ceremonies will follow the practice, with official pictures taken.

Starting Lanes: The starting lanes for the first day of singles competition will be chosen by drawing numbers during the Delegate meeting before Official Practice and Opening Ceremonies. Should no Delegate or team representative be present to choose the starting lanes during the meeting, a Tournament Official will draw those numbers from the numbers remaining.

ENTRY FORMS: All Forms for the Tournament of the Americas are enclosed or online at the website. All forms provided must be completely and accurately filled out with the proper information.

Please complete and return the NATIONAL ACCEPTANCE FORM BY JULY 15, 2004.

All other forms should be submitted to the Tournament Office by JULY 26, 2004.

If this is a problem because of your national qualifying dates, please contact the Tournament Office to make other arrangements. All forms may be copied from our website: bowlingamericas.com.

ENTRY FORMS are now available on our website to be submitted on-line. If you let your bowlers, delegate or coaches fill out their own forms, please remember that they will need the Federation entry code in order to submit them. Guest forms and hotel reservations do not need the code. However, for the hotel we will still need credit card information sent to us. These forms are not on a secure site. We suggest calling or faxing credit card information separately. Please see our suggestion on our website of splitting credit card information into two separate emails for security.

YOUR FEDERATION ENTRY CODE: Because anyone can copy our forms from our website and submit them, please use this code on the forms that require it so that we know it is an official entry. We will verify all names and information submitted to us from our website by an email to you or fax.

FEES: Entrant fees for bowlers will again be $150.00. Delegates and guest fees will be $75.00. These fees will NOT include your official shirt. The Official Tournament Shirt will remain at $35.00 per shirt.

DELEGATES: Each country must have a delegate to handle all of your team's official business as well as be members of committees and represent your Federation/Association at meetings. Although a delegate may be a bowler, it is very difficult for a person to perform the delegate duties and bowl as well, since delegate duties may take place during bowling competition. Please inform your Delegates that they must be in official tournament uniform during competition and opening ceremonies.

HOTEL:  Our new official headquarters hotel is the Ramada Plaza Marco Polo Beach Resort,

They have offered us a special rate of $60.00 plus the usual 13% tax per room/per night for rooms with a maximum of four people sharing the room, because of the large block of room we have requested. The tournament rate is the same for single/double/triple or quad room. There are refrigerators, coffee makers, hair dryers and irons and ironing boards in each room. The hotel also has coin operated laundry machines, a fitness room, large pool, restaurant and bar.

We will have our Awards Banquet and our pool party at the Marco Polo. Our tournament buses will run from the Marco Polo for those who need this transportation. Pictures of the Holiday Inn can be found at  www.ramadaplazamiamibeach.com

It is imperative that you have all your hotel reservations in early. There is a cut-off date of July 28th for us to hold our block of rooms at the Marco Polo. Please remember that a reservation may be cancelled 72 hours ( 3 days) in advance without any cost.  It is better to have a reservation to cancel than no reservation at a later date.  All reservations for rooms must be made through the Tournament Office in order to receive our special rate (if you call the hotel directly you will be charged their regular rate, which is $77 to $107).

TOURNAMENT RESULTS: Daily Tournament results will be placed nightly in the hotel lobby for bowlers and delegates information. Final result packages will be given to each delegate at the Award Banquet. Please fill out the Media Forms, so that we can also arrange daily or final reports to your local media.

The Tournament schedule is included in your package. We may make changes to the bowling schedule if there is a large number of entries. The official schedule will be in the welcome bag.

We look forward to having your country represented in Miami at the 42nd anniversary of the Lee Evans Tournament of the Americas. Please be sure to mail, fax or submit on-line from our website your National Acceptance Form by July 15th, followed by the balance of the completed forms as soon as possible, but no later than July 26th.
