Event: Women's after 10 games

Marie Ramirez of Costa Rica continued to leads the women's division after the second round of competition at the 2003 AMF Bowling World Cup. Ramirez rolled an 1121, five-game block on day two for a 2,256 pin total for ten games.

Japan's Hiroko Shimizu (1,122 pins/pictured) moved into second position at 2239. Teresa Piccini, wife of PBA star Patrick Healey, who finished tied for fifth at last year's AMF World Cup in Latvia, leaped from 9th to third place behind the field-best 1213-series.

Defending women's champion Shannon Pluhowsky of the USA is fourth with 2,208 pins and a 220.8 average. Shalin Zulkifli of Malaysia posted the high game for the women thus far with a 288 effort in the late block. She is in seventh place, averaging 211.0.

The women return for another five games of qualifying Tuesday morning, followed by the men at 3:30 p.m. Both the men and women's fields will be cut to the top 24 following completion of play Wednesday night.
