FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA., TO HOST USBC YOUTH TOURNAMENTS IN 2006

Scholarship opportunities abound for youth bowlers at national events

 GREENDALE, Wis. - United States Bowling Congress Youth has selected Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to host its 2006 USBC Junior Gold Championships (formerly USA Junior Gold Bowling National Championships), and 2006 Pepsi USBC Youth Championships (formerly Pepsi Youth Bowling Championships). Both of these USBC Youth bowling tournaments will be held in the Greater Fort Lauderdale area during July 2006.

 "Fort Lauderdale's location and strong bowling community make it a perfect fit for USBC Youth and these tournaments, and it is close to many great attractions that our bowlers and families will enjoy," said USBC Youth Events Manager Maureen Vicena. "Our organization is familiar with the Florida area, having held other top-level bowling tournaments there in the past. We look forward to sharing in the bowling excitement with the Fort Lauderdale area."

The ninth annual USBC Junior Gold Bowling Championships will take place from July 8-14 at Don Carter University Lanes, the 64-lane host center; Sawgrass Lanes, a 64-lane center; and the 56-lane Don Carter Tamarac Lanes. Side events will be held at Holiday Springs Lanes and Strikers Family Sport Center.

The Pepsi USBC Youth Championships will be held July 17-19 exclusively at Don Carter University Lanes.

 The 2005 events are taking place in Indianapolis. The USA Junior Gold Bowling National Championships, a USBC event, will be held July 9-15, with the Pepsi Youth Bowling Championships, a USBC event, immediately following from July 18-20.

The Pepsi Youth Bowling Championships, a USBC event, is an opportunity for youth to become involved in a premier international tournament. More than 200 athletes from around the world are expected to participate. To date, the Youth Bowling Championships has awarded more than $3 million in scholarships through the Scholarship Funds Program and the International Finals. An estimated $300,000 in scholarships will be awarded this season through state/zone competitions.

USBC Junior Gold program members can compete in exclusive events with the chance to win thousands of dollars in scholarships throughout the season, including more than $50,000 at the USA Junior Gold Bowling National Championships, a USBC event. More than 1,300 athletes are expected to participate. These bowlers also have the opportunity to be chosen as members of USBC Junior Team USA 2006.
