General
Playing Rules
1. The first World Senior Invitational
Tournament, to be sanctioned by the WTBA and its member zones,
will be held May 2-8, 2010. The Tournament will start on
Sunday with registration and a captains meeting, with the first
day of competition on Monday, and end on Friday with an Award’s
Banquet on Saturday evening.
2. The Tournament is open to Seniors,
age 50+, from WTBA member countries, all player
must be a member of his/her country’s bowling
Federation/Association. Verification
from the player’s Bowling Federation will be required.
Players must be of the nationality of the country they
represent or a permanent resident of the country they represent,
and shall not be under suspension by any WTBA member federation.
3. There will be three (3) divisions of senior players, both
men and women.
Age Division A:
50 - 57 years old
Age Division B: 58 - 64 years old
Age Division C:
65 years and
older
3a.
The age on the day of the start of the Tournament will be used to
determine the age group.
3b. Division A
and B will receive no handicap.
All the participants in the C group will receive for
each game played, a bonus of 1
point for each full year they are older then the age of 65 years. The
bonus will be for every event in group C: Singles, Doubles, Trio's and Masters!
4. The Tournament will consist of singles, doubles and trio
events. Each
participant must play on three different days, one day each of
singles (6 games), doubles (6 games) and trios (6 games).
4a, Singles
and doubles events will be played with 2 players per lane.
Each game will be played using
two lanes immediately adjoining each
other, with the players alternating lanes for each frame.
4b.
If a doubles team consists of 2 players from different age
groups, they must play in the
age group of the youngest player.
4b1. Mixed doubles
are not allowed.
4c. If a
doubles team consists of 1 or 2 C age players, bonus points will
be awarded to those C age players’
scores
4d. The trio
event will be played with three players per lane. Each game will be played using
two lanes immediately adjoining each
other, with the players alternating lanes for each frame.
4d1. There will be separate trio events, without age groups, for men and women.
4d2. Mixed teams are not allowed.
4d3. If a trio consists of 1, 2 or 3 C- age players, bonus points
will be awarded to those C
age players’ scores.
5.
Masters Match Play Event will be played on Thursday and
Friday to determine the field of top 6 players
for a Masters
Round Robin to determine the All Events Champion.

In singles, doubles and trios, all bowlers will move 5
lanes to the right and bowl another set of
opponents.
7.
All lane assignments are made by the Organizing Committee
in advance and will be made, where possible, to
have players play against players from
different countries.
8.
Mixed country teams - All countries must give their line up
for doubles and trio's in the first week of April each year to the
Organizing Committee. Should there be players of a country who do
not make a full team, the organizing committee will form mixed country teams from these players. The mixed country teams will compete in the event as other teams and
will be eligible to receive medals.
The organizing committee will do its best to form mixed
country teams.
9.
Incomplete teams - If there are not enough players to make a mixed country team in either doubles or trios, due to
the number of participants in the Tournament,
the players will play all the events but will not be eligible to
win any medals for those events.
Their scores will only count toward their all events score.
10.
There will be 10 minutes of practice before
single and double event, and 15 minutes before the
trio event. There
will be 10 minutes of practice before the start of any Master’s
event.
11.
After playing 18 games (singles, doubles and trios events)
the 24 top scoring players in each division will bowl in the
Masters Event which will consist of two sessions of Match Play and
a Round Robin Final.
11A:
Round One of Match Play:
The top 24 scoring players in each division will bowl for
best 2 out of 3 games against their opponent.
No scores will be carried over from previous events. Should an odd number of players exist for Round One of Match
Play the player with the highest score after the original 18 games
will automatically advance to the next round.
The 12 winners of the matches will
advance to Round Two of Match Play.
Should there not be 24 players in a division, they will
bowl this round with however many players are in the division as
long as it is more than 12 total players in the division.
If there are 12 or fewer players in a division, they will
automatically advance to Round Two of Match Play.
11B:
Round Two of Match Play:
The winners of the matches in Round One (12 players) in
each division will bowl for best 2 out of 3 games against their
opponent. No scores
will be carried over from previous events. Should an odd number of
players exist for Round One of Match Play the player with the
highest score after the original 18 games will automatically
advance to the next round.
The 6 winners of the matches will
advance to the Round Robin Finals.
Should there not be 12 players in a division, they will
bowl this round with however many players in the division as long
as it is more than 6 total players in the division.
Should there be 6 or fewer players in a division, they will
automatically advance to Round Robin Finals.
12.
Masters Round Robin Finals:
The top 6 players after Round Two of Match Play, in each
division, will bowl a Master’s Round Robin Finals Event
consisting of 5 one-game matches, one against the other in a Round Robin format.
No scores will be carried over from previous events.
Points for the Round Robin will be
awarded as follows:
Won:
20 pins bonus
Tie:
10 pins bonus
200-249 game 05 pins bonus
250-300 game 10 pins bonus

Tie scores - When scores are equal (tied) for any of the
first three positions in singles, doubles, trios and the
Masters, there shall be no roll-off, but co-champions shall be declared.
Players who tie with
another player or team will be awarded the same medals. In case of
a tie for the first
position, the next position will get bronze medal. In the case of
a triple tie
for the first position, all will get gold medals, and there will
be no other medals. In
case of a tie for the second position, there will be no medals for
the third position. In case of a tie for the third position the
tied players will all
get a bronze medal.
12a.
When a tie occurs during the Masters Round one or two of
Match Play for the last advancing position a roll off game will be
bowled until the tie is broken with as many additional10th
frames as needed to break the tie.
13.
Players are not allowed to eat, or consume alcohol or be
under the influence of alcohol while in competition - the entire period of her/his
block of games. Non-alcoholic beverages are allowed,
however, no liquids of any kind are allowed in
the player’s circle, but may be kept on the tables to the rear.
No smoking is allowed in the bowling center at any time.
Any player in breach of these rules will be
suspended for the block of games then being played.
14.
The application of any foreign substance on any part of the
approach that detracts from the possibility of other players
having a normal playing condition is prohibited. The WTBA rule on this is the same as USBC rule and will be followed - products made by bowling manufacturers to
help players to get a good slide in their approach, such as shoe
slide is permitted, as long as others players do not file a protest that the
approach is negatively influenced. Products that
are not on the USBC approved list are prohibited. The recent USBC
list can be found at: http://www.bowl.com/.
Powder products for use on bowling balls may not be kept on
the score table and may only be used in a manner that does not
impact other players in any way.
15.
Cleaning the bowling ball during competition - Any cloth towel that is non-abrasive and does not modify the surface
finish of the ball and contains no chemical
additives will be acceptable for use during the
competition.

16.
Playing uniforms - Players shall wear a standard uniform. Standard uniform means: all the same colors and lay out. Men must wear pants or slacks.
Woman
may wear skirts, split skirts, pants, slacks or dress shorts. The mixed country teams and any players who are not part of teams are
exempted from this rule.
First offence, warning, second offence, a fine of $10 (USD),
third offence will be disqualification for the
event in which the offence took place.
17.
Scoring errors - Errors in scoring or errors in calculation
in tournament play must be corrected by a responsible Tournament
Official immediately upon discovery of
such error. Questionable errors, which would have a direct effect
on the results, will be decided upon by the Organizing
Committee of the tournament. The time
limit for filing protests on scoring errors is one hour after the first squad the next morning. The time limit for filing protests on
scoring errors in the last day before the
masters is two hours after the moment the results
are published. If the player does not agree with the decision made by the managing committee a written appeal, by the team captain, should be handed over to the commission of appeal.
18.
Protests - All other protests, not mentioned in these rules
must be submitted promptly by a team captain or representative of a country in
writing and given to the Tournament Director. The Tournament Director will give the protest to the commission of appeal,
formed by the organizing committee, which will consist of any Zone
presidium member present at the Tournament, the Tournament
Director, a representative of a local USBC organization and
representatives from two other countries.
The commission
of appeal will decide and give the verdict in writing to all involved and all representatives of countries present. The
decision is final.
19.
In all other matters the WTBA rules will be applied.

After the single, double and trio
events, the all events scores will be posted.
There are NO medals for all events after
18 games; this result is only for the start of the Round robin.
Masters Event
The Masters Event will consist of two rounds of Match Play
and a Round Robin Finals. No
medals will be awarded for games in Match Play.
For the Round Robin Finals, the 6
highest scoring players after two rounds of Match Play in Men A,
Men B, Men C, Women A, Women B and Women C will play the masters final
event - 5 games Round Robin.
For the round robin, scores from the previous games will not be carried
over. Bonus points
won during the matches will be added to the scores.
After 23 total games of the tournament
the Masters winners will be awarded medals as follows:
